Our men's team, hit by exams and fixture clashes on Saturday the 4th of May, numbered only seven, and finished a distant 8th, but the single league point gained may yet prove invaluable providing we field good teams in the remaining fixtures. Our only event winner was Andrew Peck, in his league debut, who threw a superb pb of 43.18m to win the Discus (16 points). Top points scorer was captain Martin Hayes, who amassed 49 points in 400m, 400m Hurdles, 1500m, Steeplechase and Javelin. Allan Ramsay earned 20 points in 800 and 1500m, Paul Wishart 18 in Shot and Hammer, David Clark 10 in 100m and Javelin, Sean McCormick 9 in 100 and 200m, Steven Bryce 5 in 800m.
Well done to all who competed. With the ten or more who were unavailable we could mount a good challenge for Division 1 survival. Remember we were 4th last season after finishing 7th in Match 1. Thanks as usual to our officials Sheila (Field Referee) and Hugh Baillie and to Gordon Innes and Allan Bryce for their support.
