Throws Grand Prix

There was a good turnout of Victoria Park athletes at the Throws Grand Prix on the 25th of May.  This was the first of three meetings at Craigswood Stadium in Livingston.

Izzie Cooke (U15) had her first measured throw in the 500g javelin where she achieved a distance of 20.28m.  She followed that with a distance of 15.77m with the 1k discus.

Haley Elliot (U17), with only her second competition of the year advanced her pb with the 1k discus to 27.26m.

Calah Rowley (U13) increased her pb with the 0.75k discus to 19.59m.  She also threw the 2.72k shot 5.27m.

Adrianna Sharpe(U13) took part in her first competitive event and although she didn’t match her recent performances in training, she did achieve a distance of 0.75m.

Holly Hailstone (U13) was a little short of her best but still managed an excellent 19.74m in the 400g javelin.  She also took part in her first discus event where she achieved a distance of 17.35m with the 0.75k discus.

Claire Cameron (W60) had a busy day, she achieved a distance of 25.90m with the 1k discus, 9.33m with the 3k shot and 25.84m with the hammer.

Hayley Berry (U17) was also throwing the 1k discus and achieved a distance of 33.99m.  She followed that up with a new pb the following day at Carlisle in the Youth Development League with a distance of 37.80m.  Haley also achieved a distance of 11.26m with the 3k shot.

Lucy Gardner (U17) was below her usual standards in the discus with a throw of 29.94m but she also remedied this the following day with a pb of 32.71 at Carlisle in the Youth Development League.

Lauren Mathieson (U13) made her debut in this competition with a discus throw of 16.51m.

Katie Ord (SW) had a best throw on the day of 45.24m with the 4k hammer.

The next Throws Grand Prix is at the same venue on Saturday the 27th of July.  Online entries can be made at this link. The closing date for entries is the 18th of July.
