4 x 200m Relay Record

Congratulations to our Senior Women's 4x200 Relay squad (Mhairi Patience, Sharon Jakisa, Diane Ramsey and Chloe Lambert) whose winning time of 1:41.28 at the Senior Relay Championships on the 13th of February has now been ratified as a Scottish Club Record.

 

Scottish Indoor Championships

The Scottish Athletics U13, U15 and U20 Age Group Indoor Championships were held on Saturday 5th March and Sunday 6th March 2016 in the Emirates Arena.

Performances of note and medals earned are listed below

Abbey Orr won Gold in the U13G High Jump with a height of 1.42m.

Ben Chatham won Bronze in the U13B 60m Hurdles with a time of 10.32s.

Jamie Stevenson won Gold in both the U15B 60m and 200m with times of 7.39s and 23.58s respectively.

Euan Urquhart won Bronze in both the U20M Long Jump and 60m Hurdles with a distance of 6.83m and time of 9.08s respectively.

Well done to all who competed as the standard was very high.

Senior and U17 Indoor Championships

The Senior and Under 17 Championships were held in the Emirates Arena on Saturday 30th January 2016.  There were some notable performances from VP-Glasgow athletes and these are noted below.

Andrew Peck won Gold in the U17M Shot Putt with a throw of 12.86m (PB)

Mhairi Porterfield won Silver and Katie Ord won Bronze in the Sen Women Shot Putt with throws of 12.99m and 11.12m (PB) respectively

Track

John McCall won Gold in the Sen Men 60m Hurdles with a time of 8.21s

Jade Henry won Gold in the U17W 60m Hurdles with a time of 8.89s (PB)

Mhairi Patience won Silver in the Sen Women 400m with a time of 57.72s (PB)

Mhairi Hendry won Silver in the Sen Women 800m with a time of 2.04.97s (PB)

Josephine Moultrie won Silver in the Sen Women 1500m with a time of 4.13.68s

Chloe Lambert won Gold in the Sen Women 200m with a time of 24.60s

Kade Thomas won Silver in the Sen Men 200m with a time of 22.12s (PB)

Red Star Championships

It has been a very busy time, athletically, for our Disability Group who have competed in 4 competitions in the space of 3 weeks.  They attended their first Open Graded competition at Linwood on Wednesday 26th August, VP-Glasgow’s Club Champs on Wednesday 2nd September at Scotstoun, the SDS Senior Champs on Wednesday 9th September in Perth and Red Star’s Track and Field Champs on Saturday 12th September at Crownpoint where, yet again, many medals were won and PBs achieved.  Notable performances are as follows:

Steven Bryce won Gold in the 1500m with a time of 4.27.8s.

Darren Carruthers won Gold in the 1500m with a time of 5.23.3s, Silver in the 400m with a time of 68.1s (PB) and Bronze in the Long Jump with a distance of 3.22m.

Sean McCormick won Gold in the Discus and Silver in the Long Jump with distances of 22.74m and 4.79m respectively.  He also won Silver in the 100m and Bronze in the 200m with times of 12.5s and 25.3s respectively.

Andrew Larter won Gold in the Long Jump with a distance of 4.59m and Silver in the 100m with a time of 13.6s.

Jack Burrows won Silver in the Long Jump with distance of 4.43m.

Gavin Roberts won Gold in the 200m with a time of 27.5s (PB), Silver in the Discus with a distance of 21.25m and Bronze in the Long Jump with a distance of 4.29m.

David Mott won Gold in the Long Jump with a distance of 3.39m and Silver in the 200m with a time of 30.4s (PB).

Alistair Larter won Silver in the 800m with a time of 2.50.8s and Bronze in the 400m with a time of 68.6s.

Ryan Cuzen won Gold in the 400m with a time of 62.8m (PB) and Silver in the 200m with a time of 28.4s (PB).

Stuart Logan won Gold in the 60m with a time of 10.6s (PB) and Silver in the 100m with a time of 18.7s.

Hamish Couper won Silver in the Javelin with a distance of 11.94m.

Lauren Gallagher won 4 x Golds for her performances in the 400m RR, 100m RR, 200m RR and 800m RR with times of 1.59.6s, 26.8s, 56.3s and 5.07.1s respectively.

Anyone who has had a “shot” of one of these Race Runner bikes will know just what a feat Lauren achieved.  My hat goes off to her!
